Aarhus

Same same, but different. Almost. The train trip up from Odense was a joy. It followed the coast up most of the way with great views from one side and lush forest on the other. Aarhus was ... pleasant. Lots of bars and clubs blah blah blah. The cathedral in the middle of town, the largest in Denmark, might have been a highlight if it wasn´t the same red brick structure as every other cathederal and church in Denmark. The recontructed old town was Ok after hours when you could walk around for free but I wouldn´t have paid to see it. Their was an Australian restraunt where I treated myself to an all you can eat buffet. After making do with gristle in London it was a nice change to get a decent steak without having to sell the rights to my first born. For a change up I caught the train out to Silkeborg in the Danish Lake District. If it wasn´t for the still shit weather I might have made more of it and went fishing or canoeing but I made do with a twenty km walk from Silkeborg to Ry (For

Odense

Odense filled me with the same enthusiasm as Copenhagen. Great place to live just boring as shit to visit (same as Adelaide as I´ve come to learn). "What about the bars and clubs?" you say. Everywhere has bars and clubs, this isn´t new. Maybe it was just the continuly shite weather or the fact that the Hostel straddled the train tracks that was making my usual almost cheerful disposition less than almost. The main reason I was here was to visit the nearby Egeskov Castle. Though smaller than they make it look on the postcards it was almost worth the price of the admission if only because of the veteran car and motorbike museum.

Copenhagen

I'm not sure if it was the weather or the 25% sales tax but I don't think I made the most of Copenhagen. I thinks its an amazing city. If you had to make some utopian city up from scratch chances are you would come with some thing like Copenhagen. I think I could easily spend the rest of life there. There are beautiful parks, castles, cathedrals, muesums, pedestrian malls, women. Trains run on time. They even have an entirely different road network for bicycles complete with traffic lights. And people stop on red. There are pubs on every corner and kebab joints in between. What more could you want? I don´t Know. Maybe something to happen? A bit of friction? A 3 foot statue of a mermaid can´t the biggest attraction in Town can it? As stated earlier I could have embraced it more than I did. I just found myself walking around looking at things. Obviously this happens in other cities too, but in other cities that i've been to you have to work a bit harder to get your rewards.

Bayswater

I shared a taxi to the airport with a girl from Brissy. As we were next to each other at check-in the bloke behind the desk must have assumed we were together and checked both our luggage under her name. I asked if she had been keeping up with the Shapelle Corby story. She said that I wasn't funny. If it's possible Sharm el Sheik airport left a bigger impression on me than the port at Nuweiba. The prices were more expensive than at the services on the M1 (which I thought wasn't possible) and the organization led to a situation where three flights were boarding through the same gate to the same destination with two different airlines at the same time. The displays were showing different information than what the PA was giving us and at one stage it showed that my flight had departed 2 hours ago. Oh did I mention that it was a moist 30 degrees and that I shared what a effectively was a large tin shed with 1000 Brits who had obviously never left the air conditioned hotel /tour
