Tallinn

Tallin was a great place to finish my trip. It was certainly one of the prettier places I have been. I guess it wasn't that different to any other city in the Baltics but I certainly noticed more of a Russian influence, from the markets north of the train station selling old army uniforms and other parafunalia to the massive TV tower that apparently the Russians put up before the Moscow Olympics to impress the world. The view from the top was certainly impressive if nothing else. I reckon you could see Finland on a clear day. You could definitly see the never ending criss crossing of ferries across the Baltic bringing Fins to Tallins biggest attraction. Cheap Booze. Other than the usual walking around I went to a pub to see some Australian Singer/Songwriter pluck some strings. He wasn't half bad but the music couldn't have been more depressing if it was written by Thom Yorke and Chris Martin after their entire families died of cancer. After that I went to a club, stayed out

Tartu

After missing my earlier bus I eventually caught a late bus from Riga at 7pm meaning I didn't get to Tartu until after midnight. I probably stayed in the smallest 'hostel' you're ever likely to see. Seriously some crazy Tartuian must have built the place after watching Lord of Rings and thought that all travelers were the size of Hobbits. It rained constantly the entire time I was there so it was near impossible to go out and see anything so Denmark style I had to put the proverbial gun to my head to force myself to see anything. This was made harder by the fact that I had the entire 'hostel' and the associated benefits of TV, DVD and internet to myself.
